Sunday 21st October 2012
Up about 7:15, went run a bit after 8 I think for 6miles round Mappleton and back. Slowish - around 11min miles but at least a decent distance.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/235980093
Then went to Alfreton to Aldi and Home Bargains - got mesen a new headlight for running with kept the missus happy!
Got back and then went up golf course to test driver Phil has helped me put together. It's a ten degree Callaway 454 not exactly new tech but goes well when you catch it right.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/235980098
All the write-ups on the net says it should have .350" tip shaft inserted into but we couldn't get the R7 shaft which I had to hand into it for love and money whereas an old .335" true temper from a really old Goldwin driver from way back when fitted a treat but meant buying another adaptor (which required a bit of trimming down to fit) from Gamola Golf - who have bits and bobs for almost any golf club rebuild.
Monday 22nd October 2012
Up at 5:30, 2 mile run put some cobs in the top oven to prove (had made the dough last night and chucked it in fridge - still experimenting). Watch battery was flat so no record but it's my now usual "two mile back in time to get Phil up" run. Then baked the bread 5 x 5min turnaround at gas mark 5.5 - that should be easy enough to remember.
After work got home, had tea and went out on t'bike fairly late on. 9.38 miles at about 12mph which will do for now!

Tuesday 23rd October 2012
Got up at 5:20, got downstairs, got oven on, got dough out of the fridge and made up into roll sizes. Put dough into top oven to rise a bit and went for the "two mile back in time to get Phil up" run and got him up at 6:05. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/236303007
Baked the bread. Fetched Papers and delivered Phil to work, got the missus and Lucy up, showered, dressed for Work and off by 7:20 into office for just gone 8am. Had brekko at work. All good so far.
Watched a bit of Man UTD on telly then went out for a bike ride. Just short of nine miles done - not mega fast but not bothered!

Wednesday 24th October 2012
Up at 5:20 as usual. Got Phil up. Took him to work early - he's doing maize chopping today apparently, whatever that is. So back at 6:05 - walked up town and ran back.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/236603458
In to work early, quick peek at the scales - says 3lbs off. That'll do.
Went to group and it was better still - 4.5lbs off according to Hollie's scales at the Belper Slimming World group.
Thursday 25th October 2012
Up early 3.5 mile run, sub 10 minute miles for a change - quite pleased with that.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/236849386

Saturday 27th October 2012
Up at crack of dawn to take Phil to work, back to bed a bit. Got up and took dog a walk up town and back. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/238211348
Did a Texas Scramble with Doug and John at lunchtime - all good hit a cracker down the 15th (242 yards). On clean hits I averaged 211 yards off the tee with the Callaway - am liking it more every time! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/238211354
Went to see Big Lix at Empire for a charity thing got invited to do a number which I did try to resist but failed - ZZ Top tune done and dusted. Drank Pepsi Max all night so still going strong for a month without alcohol!

Tuesday 16th October 2012
woke up at 4am again, back to bed, got up 5:15, got the last of the dough out the fridge and into top oven to rise a bit. Out for a run round the block - even slower than yesterday! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/233973170
Put the rolls into bottom over and give em 20 minutes at gas mark 6 - seem okay.
Back home from work about 6pm, fetched Phil from his work, back in good time for a change.
Took missus to Costco to get a cake for Paddy. Switched telly to watch footie but it's not on - rain stopped play. Hilarious.
Bed early.
Wednesday 17th October 2012
Couldn't get out of bed, when got out of bed at 5:50 couldn't find running jacket anywhere so no run this morning. Took Phil to work, got off to work early and in office for 8:15 all good so far. Been on scales and am a stone heavier than back in June - so going back to group.
Joined a group in Belper, 12 week countdown bought - 1.5 stones off by Christmas is the plan.
Thursday 18th October 2012
Struggled to get out of bed again. Got up eventually and out on the roud by 5:40. Two miles with a stop-off on the way due to blocked bleedin drains at home.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/234595691
Back for 6:05 ish, got the boy up, fed him 2 croissants and a mug of tea then got him to work. Off to Burton-on-Trent to see Mark Flaherty's Stretton group. Very good too, was talking to a member called Lynette who'd lost 16lbs in five weeks and couldn't believe how much she was eating. All good. All done, up the A38 back to tthe office.
Friday 19th October 2012
Same as yesterday only a bit slower!
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/234834309
Am doing a load of legalese on a trial at work and it's doing my head in! Never mind.
Saturday 20th October 2012
Didn't get up til 8:30!!. Just short of seven miles on the bike to fetch paper.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/235980079
Did a round of golf with John, honours equal at the end which was nice. Coffee in Clubhouse and then back home. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/235980086
I decided to leave driver at home which made things interesting - the three wood went plenty far enough really but you're never happy unless you're letting the big dog eat as Tin Cup would say.

Sunday 30th September 2012
Up at 4am - took the halfwit to work in his halfwit-mobile. Unfortunately he kept the door key in his pocket so when got back had to wake the boss. That went down well. Anyroad had a lie-in got up at 8am! Washed the cars, tested something called Rinsewax - not sure about it but looked okay. Went to CostCo as bosskat wanted pictures developing. Am hoping to get me eyes tested there next week, so I am. Went over to me mum's. Back home, waiting for a half wit to call.
Monday 1st October 2012
Am going to turn over a new leaf this month. Will have a weigh-in later than am going to get meself together. Got up at 5:20. Started off with a slow 2 mile run - http://connect.garmin.com/activity/228814763 Then did five mile ride on the Boardman http://connect.garmin.com/activity/228814770, then took the halfwit to work.
Amazed to find Europe won the Ryder Cup coming back from 10-6 down to win 8 out of the 12 final day singles matched, amazed, David our Financial Director said you could have had 33-1 odds on Europe winning, 33-1. Anyroad up here's a pic of PJ with the actual Ryder Cup from a year or two back!

Took Phil to work early doors. Helped Lucy with a load of trigonometry homework which she'd not mentioned until I was about to walk out the door. Such is life.
After work got Phil to give me hand getting a broken bit of shaft out of a Callway 454 Head which am going to put on the end of another shaft in due course. Took Pip out again before bedtime - all good.

Up at silly o'clock am, too the boss to Manchester Airport. Back for just gone 7am. All good. Don't know when I'll get any exercise in but such is life!! Boss kindly let me leave early so got back in good time for Lucy. Phil was dead late so instead of going out as intended it was chippy night and it was very, very average.
Tuesday 25th September 2012
Got off to bed at 10pm straight after New Tricks, got up at 5:50 just before the alarm went off, all in all not a bad night's sleep. No exercise at all again! Got Phil's packup done, got him off to work, got Lucy's packup done, got her off to School. Got into work late at 9:03 - need to be more organised tomorrow, that's for sure.
Wednesday 26th September 2012
Nowt to report still. Got the kids off to school, no exercise, back to normal at the weekend all being well!

Friday 28th September 2012
Same again, missus is back from Dublin later though so back to normal real soon!!
Fetched her from Manchester Airport 7:45pm, saw Mick McCarthy in car park at the airport getting into a range rover. Things back to normal tomorrow.
Saturday 29th September 2012
Back to normal. Round of golf with the chaps just scraped home - didn't score much and a bit rusty but quite a few pars including the last hole. Took a 3 wood off the tee a fair bit and that worked a treat - hit 3 wood, 5 wood to par the last and it worked real cool.
Monday, 17 September 2012
Sunday 16th September 2012 to Saturday 22nd September 2012
Sunday 16th September 2012
Not much to report. Up at 4:30, took Phil to work. Got a couple of hours kip, went up attic, got case down for missus. Mowed lawns, watched end of Tour of Britain, weatched Women's British Open. All good.

Played Breadsall Priory - very average managed to scrape in with 99. Had quite a few pars and a birdie but also two or three 7s, an 8 and a 9! http://connect.garmin.com/activity/224145660
Tuesday 18th September 2012
Up at 5:30. Out for a 2 mile run http://connect.garmin.com/activity/224145664 Very slow - didn't feel that bad at the time although legs are tired from 8 miles of golf yesterday. Then went to fetch papers on bike which would be about 5 miles but watch was coming up battery low. Such is life!
Wednesday 19th September 2012
Up late, nearly 5:55 before fell out of bed. Got Phil up at 6:10, went out on the bike, noticed a bit of lateral movement and it turns out a bit of the bottom bracket has fallen off so have contacted Boardman via Halfords this morning to see if can get it fixed. The silver lining in this one though is that it means I'll have to get the Giant out. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/224479496
It might be that it's just loose and it's supposed to be like that.
Took Phil to work, late getting back but just about on time into the office at 8:30.
Took some pics of the sunflowers before the frost gets em.

Monday 10th September 2012
Got a day booked off work so thought you know what we'll go watch that Tour of Britain mullarky come through Ashbourne - really good twas too.

Didn't do a lot else - took some stuff to recycling centre. Put poles up to support me Sunflowers (lost one at the weekend due to the winds and it being nearly a hundred foot tall, give or take). Fetched some wood and stuff for some additional work on the kayak house.
Tuesday 11th September 2012
Got up at 5:50, the darned alarm clock is not working as it should. I wonder if you can still get a Sony Digicube - had one of those back in the day and it never let me down. Wonder what happened to it. Took Phil to work - have come to the conclusion that it's severely disrupting my fitness training so need to do something about that. Into the office for 8:15 all good.

Up at 5:20 - did a bit of a run (only two miles but it's a start). http://connect.garmin.com/activity/221792033 Then a bit of a bike ride - just under five miles but it's a start. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/221792036
Into office for 8:20 all good.
Thursday 13th September 2012
Up at 5:30 - two mile run with interval training. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/222451026
Was just a bit too late for the bike ride so fetched papers with Phil, got him to work. Have put a decent rear light on the bike though so that's progress. Nothing to slow me down next time.
Am thinking of doing a bit more work on the kayak shack tonight and might get the car ready for another trip to Wales at the weekend.
Friday 14th September 2012
Up at 5:30 - Wales trip off due to unforeseen circumstances. Such is life. Went for another little 2 miler run http://connect.garmin.com/activity/222451028, got back got Phil up. Got bike out and a 5 mile ride to fetch papers done. Took Phil to work. Back home, breakfast, shower, in to work for 8:15 all good.
Saturday 15th September 2012
Not much to report. Fixed the cooker filter and lights and did the odd odd-job.

Sunday 2nd September 2012 to Saturday 8th September 2012
Sunday 2nd September
Cracking night's fishing Gromit! Two decent size bass (biggish schoolies, 2 little whitingy things, one tiny Rockling on the final cast!) Got off beach at silly o'clock. Got woken up by kids shouting on campsite at 7:34 though so a bit short of sleep. Had decided night before I wanted to get off early so back home for about 2pm which was okay after another breakfast in the tent
Did a bit of work fixing our Andrew's beach caster - re wrapping the bottom ring.
Took me yonks to remember how you do the loop thing but once got that started I think it took 40 minutes ish to wrap, 2 minutes for first coat of varnish then ten minutes of rotating so that the varnish didn't run.
After teas it was an early night, in bed by 8pm, woke up at 5:40. Steady run up town and back at 9:52 pace. Happy with that. Off to work early - McD's for big breakfast meal. Everybody's got their vice.
Got back from work, had tea then did a bit more work on fixing our Andrew's rod. Phil has mechanised the process of turning the rod to prevent varnish run:-
Then it was over to dad's to move a fridge (which was greatly eased by borrowing a trolley from work. Fridge done, back home watched a load of telly, had a beer, bed late, silly boy.
Tuesday 4th September 2012
Up at 5:50, very tired. Slow run up town and back. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/218691081
Put another coat of varnish on the rod before coming into the office, one more coat and I reckon it'll be done. Might re-varnish a few rods now we have Phil's patented rod rotator! It may look like a cordless drill with a bit of lego and an elastic band but it's way, way more complex than that. Oh yes, yes, yes.
Sorted a few things out at home - put what I hope is final coat of varnish on our Andrews rod - come out a bit bubbly so might have to start all over again!
Wednesday 5th September 2012
Up early doors. Walked / ran up town http://connect.garmin.com/activity/219049504
Into work at 8:20. All good so far. We finally got Phil's car taxed after much fun and games. So had to enjoy a bit of car tutoring with him. Hopefully got last coat of varnish on Andrew's fishing rod, might do one final one as it's a bit bitty.
Thursday 6th September 2012
Up early but zero exercise. Took Phil to work at 6:30 after fetching paper's and doing a couple of odd jobs here and there. Then found the fool hadn't taken any milk to work with him (ironically his work is a dairy farm!) so dropped him off some milk on my way in. Into office eventually at 8:40.
Re-varnished another two rods as well last night. No exercise is a bit of a worry.
Friday 7th September 2012
Up early - paper - Phil drove to work, I drove his car back. All good fun. In office 8:30. There's a debate as to whether he's coming to Wales or not. I think he's going to jib but can't be sure. I've got to fetch the kayak back whether he does or not though so that's where we are!
Saturday 8th September 2012
4am took Phil to work. 7:15am went to collect him, 8am got back set of for Wales. We got there for lunch-time and were out on kayaks in early afternoon - all good fun. Went fishing later but it nowt out there. Still good fun.

Sunday 26th August 2012 to Saturday 1st September 2012
Sunday 26th August 2012
Bad weather forecast for Monday 27th so this was to be the last day of short trip. Kayaks out and messing in the surf - pretty hairy stuff - very nearly got tipped out in the waves but the Ocean drifter does not tip easy so stayed up. Lovely day, shame to be going. Got home for about 5pm. A bit of jip on way home with CreamFields being stopped early for safety reasons the roads were full of scallies in sh*t-up motors and slowed us getting onto the M6 in a hurry.
Monday 27th August 2012
Did bugger-all all day really. Weather was very wet again. Took a load of stuff to recycling, took a load of golf balls up to Ashbourne Golf Club for the juniors. Fastened the sunflowers up - they're getting on for 10 foot tall now so a bad wind could do for them. Went to bed at 8pm to catch up a bit.
Tuesday 28th August 2012
Got up at 6am to make sure the boy got off to work. Dropped his car off for MOT walked back.
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/216673927
Went up to Stanton-in-Peak to put some flowers on uncle Peter's memorial. Down to Rowsley to try and get Lucy some new school shoes and failed. Got some camping stuff from Field and Trek (which used to be Sportdirect.com). All good. Bed early.
Wednesday 29th August 2012
Up early. Took Phil to work. Took Lucy to see 'The Three Stooges' it was cracking like Vic and Bob on speed. Golf in the afternoon - nine holes with John and Doug - shot 42 to get 17 points off a three-quarter handicap - must be getting better - there were five pars in that!

Thursday 30th August 2012
Up just after 6am - struggled as couldn't sleep last night. Walk/run up town and back them into office for 9:30. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/216673937
Got some big boxes to set up a one person minimalist camping box to just chuck in when needed. Think am going to get another little camping cooker to finish things off. So spent much of evening get things sorted for a final one man expedition to Wales. Hopefully, Phil will be coming next weekend and then that's it!
Friday 31st August 2012
Last day of Summer, perhaps - well after scraping car I reckon summer's gone! Never mind, into the office for 7am all good - sooooo quiet.
Off to Wales for weekend - bit of fishing first night - caught nowt, brother got a really decent bass and two whiting. Bed late and a slightly drunk.
Saturday 1st September 2012
Up fairly early, brekky in the tent!
Walk to Llanfaethlu and back. Battery low warning on watch so only got the direct walk to it 1.75 miles. Went the long way back along the road to Borthwen then along the coastal path to Church Bay.

Sunday 19th August 2012 to Saturday 25th August 2012
Sunday 19th August 2012
Well, the day I'd been dreading for months came. Had the Belper Rugby Rover to run. Up early, at Belper for 7:30. We set off with the walkers at 8am so we could get it done before it got hot. Was absolutely done by 8 miles in, didn't start well when twisted ankle a bit about half a mile in. Could have been better! Anyway, it you're fit it'd be a good run for most if you're not it's a bit of trial! Some beautiful views I have to say and lots of places I'd not seen or knew existed so in a way it was good. That said, it's bloody painful at the time of writing. I blame that Kathryn - it's like the Grindleford Gallop - she should have added "only more so" to the end of that statement!
Watch ran out of battery monday morning so here's an image of the route that we more or less took. I'll post the actual garmin connect stuff tomorrow.
Monday 20th August 2012
Woke up cream crackered. Took Henry out for a bit of walk. Bugger he is and no mistake - only got him for a week which is probably as well as he's severely curtailing training and everything at the moment!

Update: it took 4 hrs 13mins in actual fact, so very slow but am really not that bothered it was a big old climb and a long way in the sun. In short it took it out of you. When I'd done the marathons in 2009 and 2010 I had something in the tank to up the pace at the finish, I'd got nothing left with four miles to go and was literally running on empty!!

In Consideration
Am thinking about doing the Ashbourne Half Marathon on 16th September at 10:30. Probably end up doing a fair bit of walking as there's loads of hills involved but the views would certainly be something! I ran my first half marathon distance way back when along much of this route so know how steep the bit up to Bloore Meadows is - have never run up the hill to the mile 1 marker though have always come down it!
Tuesday 21st August 2012
Up early, brought the old Giant Stonebreaker to work to see if anyone wants it. It's fully functional but I've no space for it. Took Henry for a slow, slow walk - he's a good sort really but headstrong and stubborn when you want him to go in his big cage at bed time - you have to con him into it with a treat. Never mind, had a MacAdee breakfast as felt I'd earnt one. Still feeling it in the legs following Sunday's exertions.
Left work at 5:15 over to Ashbourne, thunder and lightning, 6:10 tee off and weather turns out to be fine! Forgot to set watch off til almost to the second green so not a complete record but something none-the-less. Greens had pools on them which made for an interesting nine holes - started off well par, bogie, bogie really steady then started playing crap put a ball in the field on the fourth, three putted on fifth, same on sixth, into trees on seventh, three putted again on eighth and finished with a bogie on ninth so blobbed on about four or five holes and lost a poond to Doug.
New water hazard on the first:
Wednesday 22nd August 2012
Up early as usual. Took the biffer out for a walk all. Into office, everything running a bit later than I'd like due to the hassle of the hound. Never mind. Dropped me phone at work which I could have done without - got to see if can get a replacement now.
Thursday 23rd August 2012
Up at 6.10 - bit of a lie-in. Took hound out for a very slow walk. In work in fairly good time. Debating whether or not to go to Wales - weather forecast is awful so logic should say no but it's also almost inevitable that we'll go anyway!!!!!
On way to work I took a minor detour have found a free car park for Cycle2Working so am going to be doing that from next week again.
Friday 24th August 2012
Funny old day, took the hound out. Work early, finished early, took hound back to owners. Went to Wales at gone 5pm, got there at gone 9pm! Tipping it down the weather was. Got settled in, no fishing thunder and lightning and holding 13 foot of carbon probably not best of ideas
Saturday 25th August 2012
Took the boss shopping. Pottered about on beach - went fishing 11pm! Brother got two bass on first two casts - I got a single Dab but at least didn't blank!
