Week commencing Monday 16th June 2025

Monday 16th June 2025

Up a little before 5am.  Walked to plot and watered a bit,  repatriated 3 slugs and then home by 6.30.  Did a few jobs then off to work.  Went up to lotty after work.  Put some more Cosmos in the last little bit of ground,  did a bit of weeding and watering as well.  

Tuesday 17th June 2025

Up early walked to lotty,  watered,  repatriated five slugs.  Came back. Went to Tippers at 7.30 got threw slabs and two bags of sand as we have got to put a base down for a bench in memory of Paddy.   All got done by 8.30 and Phil was off to work.  I got day off as the bench was supposed to be delivered by lunch time.  It came at 2.30 and we got it put in place so all was well (it just fit on the slabs so that was good!!).  Did a ton of pottering, mowing and some more planting while I waited for the call that they were delivering - anyway they were nice people who we've dealt with in the past TDP from Wirksworth - the bench is made from recycled plastic. 

Went golfing on my own at 4 o'clock'ish got 18 holes in pretty much so that was good exercise if not good golf!    On way home stopped at McDonalds and got a Steakhouse Stack - it was blooming lovely, I have to say!  

Wednesday 18th June 2025

Up at 5.10 and off to the lotty.  Watered/fed everything (apart from spuds and onions) with a seaweed food.  Got just one slug repatriated after Tuesday's major removal! All good stuff back home for about 6.30.

Monday 9th June 2025

Up at 5am.  Up to Lotty.  Got four slugs for repatriation.  Did a bit of moving tyres to make a space for some tomato plants (four seems to be the number in my head).  

The gap between the two piles of tyres ought to provide a bit of shelter from the westerly wind? 

Went over to Darley after work did a couple of jobs at me mum and dad's and did a few jobs.  

Think it's looking a lot better this year,  don't know if that is because of very dry start?  

Tuesday 10th June 2025

Up early.  Chucking it down with rain but walked to lotty and back.  Just one slug repatriated.  Went to work early to see if I could get some growbags but they wouldn't honour a deal on their website last time I go to b and m.  Never mind got three bags of compost from Aldi.  After work went to Darley again, did a couple of jobs then whizzed over to Ashbourne.  Quick tea and then went up to lotty.  Got four tomatoes done and finished row of peas off. Ace!! 

Think I can probably get another tomato plant in, I reckon! 

Wednesday 11th June 2025

Up at 5am.  Walked to lotty.  Tomato plants have survived a cool June night. Got one slug and repatriated it. Tried the merlin bird id app as walked along the lane and got six birds identified!  

Good stuff!!   Got back home for six,  did some pottering have got to clear the decks - too much stuff in pots that needs to be in the ground!  

After work we went to Heanor to pick up a Pearl hardware case that I am going to have cymbal stands in, I think.  It's a bit battered and there was damage to the side pocket but I have repaired that already :-

Anyroad, pleased with that purchase going to be put to use when doing gigs and there's not much room.  

After tea, went up to lotty with the missus.  Gave the peas and beans a seaweed feed.  Filled the water butt all good. Bed for a bit after ten.

Thursday 12th June 2025

Early start. Dog poorly so outside with her at 3.30am, then up and down, didn't bother going back to bed at 5am,  just did a few jobs instead. Such is life as a certain Mr Rathbone would say. 

Put some mangetout peas in (not many but have extended the row) into the lotty after work. 

 

Friday 13th June 2025

Up at the crack,  watered the new stuff at the lotty,  repatriated one slug.  Trying day at work but it got done.  All good.  Went up after work to do a bit more watering as got to go to Birmingham for a works do at the weekend. 

Saturday 14th June 2025

So up early.  Golf on a Saturday very frustrating round but not the worst one on the sheet so ho-hum but at least got out.   Set off for Birmingham about 1.30ish.  Got there with only a small amount of sat nav trouble.   Had a drink or two in the afternoon!  Ace!  

Any do was good fun and got back by about 11.15. Up early,  breakfast about 7.40ish.  on the road for 9am ish.  Back home about 10.15am.  over to Darley Dale to see ma and pa and do a few jobs.  Back home about 3.20pm went up to lotty and did a few jobs.  All good stuff!  Went  for tea at Royal Oak which was nice.
