Monday 15th August 2016

Up at 5am.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Took stuff over to Darley Dale for me dad’s birthday, then Tesco for pretend Welsh goodies, then into the office before 8am - awesome performance overall if I do say so myself. Finished a bit after 5.10pm and off to Heage to pick up a golf bag! Got golf bag after negotiating various diversions for water board works. Got home just before 6.30pm. Tea. Dog walked then adjusting the irrigation station - it kicks off at 8:05pm and 8:05am (I think - have not witnessed and recorded the am one yet but I know the evening one is definitely 8:05!!). After speaking to Charli at work it became apparent that my T sections were superflous you just put droppers in line so am not sure what the point of the T sections are but it seems to work a bit better the new way - still no water getting to the final tray so have replaced that bit of pipe as I reckon there is a blockage in there. Did some pottering about in the garden. Got the charity shop clubs listed on eBay. Watched a bit of telly - nothing on.

Up at 5am again. Took pooch to lotty and watered plots. Moles are giving plot 13 a bit of jip it would seem:

Then off to get papers. Into the office for 7.45. Hoping to leave a bit early so I can give district council a bit of jip in the local plan consultation at Ashbourne. Busy day at t'office. Didn't get away early but went to the Local Plan Public Consultation Meeting at the Elim Church at 7pm and put my tuppence worth in. Good fun. Got home in time to see the automatic irrigation system kick in 8:05pm sharp! It's now pretty much sorted - need to observe it once more and then I'll hopefully be more or less confident it's there!! Bed early'ish.

Up at 5am again. Watered stuff outside at home then off to the lotty as it started to get light - watered then got some courgettes, runner beans and a lettuce to bring back. Then up town with el poocho to get papers. Back home ready for work then into the office for 7.45am. A ton of stuff to get done today as well. More work on the watering system.

Up at 5.  Watered lotty.  Dog walk.  Full on day at work.  Back home for a bit after 6pm.  Tea.  Dog walk. Lotty with missus.  Did a bit.  Back home for 9pm.  Bed 11pm.  V Tired.

Friday 19th August 2016
Lie-in. Didn't do Lotty as done last night - so just dog walk, papers fetched and then off to work.  Rain has kicked in so no watering needed.

Saturday 20th August 2016
Up early - drizzly tat, fetched papers with dog.  Supposed to do a photo-shoot but it got rained off.  Not to worry.   Did a load of jobs in the greenhouse while Missus and Lucy were at Ashbourne Show.  Another walk with poocher before playing golf with Darren and Jordan - I started off with a birdie (no less) and then it was downhill thereafter - think I only parred a couple of holes but was there or thereabouts on most holes.  Watched Snatch on Now TV movies which was okay.

Sunday 21st August 2016
Up early.  Dog walked.  Took pooch down to lotty to do a bit but she wasn't happy as someone shooting shotguns nearby so didn't stop too long.  Got pea row taken down and tidied away.  Chopped broad beans down to ground.   Took pooch home and then went back to lotty.  Got rid of  brassicas that had bolted and took a load of rubbish besides down to the tip.  Tidied shed 13 up as well so you can at least get in it now.  Am thinking about putting a bigger shelf into shed 7 to put spuds on as Shed 7 is pretty much totally dark when doors shut?  Need to do a bit of measuring - might do that tomorrow.    

Got a decent haul of spuds, runner beans and raspberries - forgot to get courgettes which was a bit daft.

Am going to write to Aldi regarding the two metre squared cloches as both of them had poles that broke.  While taking pictures of them the dog came out for a roll on the lawn.

 Watched Solaris on Now TV movies which was rather wierd and kind of like the arty movie that is being filmed in the Mr Bean goes on Holiday film bizarre as that might sound!

Up super early.  Dog walked and papers fetched by 6am.  Into office for 7.20 hoping to get out a bit early to do some jobs at the lotty.

Last minute panicing.  Got Brussel Sprouts into the ground at the lotty hopefully some of the ‘orrible things will be done by Xmas!!  Need to get some spuds started off for Xmas too.   Have got an automatic watering system in the greenhouse that will do the trays on the floow but it’s going to need some perfecting.

Off to that Wales.  Set off about 9am got there a bit after 1:30, few stops along the way.  Got in and settled.   Should have gone fishing but was mighty tired so went to bed instead.

Mum and Dad arrive – not best pleased with the Sat Nav so tweaked it for the return journey!!  Little bit of a fish on the café beach with the wee dog again.

Brother arrives – not best pleased with all the folks on the field!  Went golfing with me dad to Bull Bay – course drove me insane.

Bit of a fish at night – caught nowt as a bit too much weed about and it was low tide.

Tuesday 9th August 2016

Up early.  Took Missus, Lucy and Grace to Anglesey Show – traffic great, dropped em off then came back to take the pooch out.  Fetched em back at 3pm all good stuff.   Went fishing with our Andrew got a bass which put up no fight at all, Andrew got a dogfish and a lil plaice.  

All good stuff.  Had to endure 9 hours of Gymnastics after - crikey it does just go on.  Gb got a bronze in the end so not all bad.

Our Andrew’s birthday – give him a fishing rod (bet he’s sick of em by now).   In the evening we went out to the Black Lion at Llanfaethlu – very nice food – really enjoyed it and they let us take the dog in too.

Dog walked, paper fetched – just like being at home eh!  Played at Anglesey Golf Club at Rhosneigr with Paul from the Campsite - it was good fun but a bit windy.  

Friday 12th August 2016

Long day.  Up early stripping down fishing kit then head back to home.  Stopped off at Llandudno on way home - up on the Great Orme the wind was unbelievable - people leaning into it at 45 degrees unbelievable!  Never mind, got home about 7pm after getting mega cramp in Cheadle on the way. right tired but got roof box off car and put away and all rest of it unloaded.

Golf cancelled but no big deal.  Took pooch a walk.  Did a shift at the lotty.  Phil has flooded my shed so am trying to dry that out and have also had all the hardware out of a wet bag and WD40’s and oiled it all.  Some quality hardware I got with that cheap kit at Xmas.  Jolly pleased.

Took poocher a walk first thing then more lotty - mowed and got a ton of rubbish down to the tip.   Then Cross at Cauldon Lowe for lunch which was very nice.  Then back home before going to Uttoxeter to see if could find a golf bag worth having at charity shop unfortunately there wasn’t so got one off a bloke in Heanor using the old eBay.  Watched Olympics golf and then whizzed down lotty to do a bit of watering.  Right tired.


What fishing stuff did I learn on this hols??
1). only need that little rod with different tips and the little multiplier although you should never put all your eggs in one basket.
2). need to work on presenting bait better.

Up at 5:35 - a bit late but such is life.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Watered stuff then off to the office, got in a little late at 8:10 but couldn't be helped.  Back home a bit after 6pm.  Tea then dog walk then sorting out support for the sunflowers which were getting a bit of a battering from the wind.  Then down the lotty with the dog for watering.  Need to get some bits of wood for the pumpkins to go on so they don't rot.  Back home before 9pm - going dark quick so t'is.  Bed for 10:30

Up at 5.30.  Dog walked, papers fetched into the office before 8am.  All good stuff.  Long day in the office picked up a drum stool I got on eBay on the way home which was good.  Got home about 6.30, tea, Dog walked round the meadow,

down the lotty at 8.00pm came off about 9.40 as it was going dark - did a bit on me patio!!  Also got some runner beans and some raspberries for the missus!

Patio - not massive and likely to have some tomato plants on it shortly anyway but it's a start!

This is the view - the foxgloves need sorting I reckon!

Up at the crack of dawn, dog walked, papers fetched, watered greenhouse then into office for 7.50 after getting petroleum on the way!  Funny sort of a day, very busy but it dragged on.  Got home for 6pm.   Tea. Dog Walked.  Did a few jobs in greenhouse and generally watered stuff.   Phil got home.  Went down lotty on me bike.  Think I've sorted out the water butt that leaked with epoxy resin but am going to do the inside of the tap next time I go.   Watered stuff.  Pulled up a load of ruddy nettles. Have got to get busy as there's another inspection in August.  Marvellous.  Back home, dog walked, off to bed for 10.30.  Watched Kingsman on the Now TV box quite good.  I went online to cancel it as it was due to go up to £9.99 a month - right at the end it offered £6 a month so took it.

Up at 5:31.  In car at 5:38, walking dog at 5:44.  Papers fetched, back home.  Sorted and into office before 8am after getting a cake from Tesco's as it's the end of the world tomorrow according to the Daily Mirror so you might as well have some cake.  Watched Spectre on the Now TV box.

Up early.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Then me and missus off to Stoke for missus' car service.  Hours of fun that was. Back home for about 1pm and then off into the office.  All good stuff.   Bed early to catch up on sleep a bit.

Saturday 30th July 2016
Up early.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Did a bit down the lotty.  Golf at 12.20 - felt like played better but scored worse - wierd two birdies on 7th and 14th - 14th was about three inches off being a hole-in-one! Went to brother-in-law Vic's 70th at Leek Cricket Club - had a band on from way back called White Knuckle Ride who were playing same venues as I used to with Big Lix back in the day.  Sat in for Free's alright now which was interesting!!  All good stuff - didn't cock it up.  Back home a bit after midnight.  Had to be quiet as Lucy had her friend over for a sleepover.

Up at 7pm.  Dog walked.  Papers fetched. Did a load of jobs at home and when missus was ready we went to Uttoxeter to get some wire mesh stuff for shed as Allotment Committee said existing mesh was too big (this was back in May - am just getting round to it!!  Anyway before getting the old mesh (which was a lorra laughs as Shop that has it in Alfreton don't have it in Uttoxeter - such is life) we went into Barnado's charity shop - got 5 Mizunzo Pro II irons - 4,5,7,8,9 they went through the till as bric-a-brac for the princely sum of £4.95 - if I don't keep I'll sell em seperately!    Anyway, we got we wanted got back home for about noon.  A bit of snap then went down to lotty to put a shift in.  Got the front of the shed done, no worries.  Got some more slabs done.  Did a bit of weeding (just typed in welding for some reason?).  Chopped tops of spuds as we got blight in the allotment - need to find out what Bernie's strain of blight-resistant spuds is next time I see him.  All good stuff.

Home for tea.  Later on got Phil to come down with his industrial strimmer and do a bit at the back of seven I'd let get overgrown.

Up early.  Dog walked.  Work.  Home.  Greenhouse – potted up the Brussel sprouts am hoping to get a growth surge on them as they were a bit late going in.  Down to lotty to do some watering.   Got some peas, raspbobs and strawbs and what have you.  Bit of a hot one.

Up early, dog walked, papers fetched.  Home. Office.  Back home, tea, dog walk, lotty.  Hot two and a half hours – got everything mowed, dug some spuds  - quite a few rotten – soil is still really wet and they felt warm when they came out of the ground.  Am going to have to dig the lot out I think. Left lotty at 10pm.  Bed about 11pm.  Phil didn’t get home until 2am on his birthday.  Daft sod.

Woke up at 5am.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Into office for 7.45am.  Back home 6.15pm.  Tea. Dog walk.   Lotty - experimenting - have added some muck to an area and going to see if some left over first earlies will do anything by Autumn - could be a hiding to nothing - we'll see.   Got to pull up another row Thursday as well.   Got spuds, runner beans, peas,  raspberries, strawberries and a cauliflower.   We got all sorts coming on strong at the minute - marrows, pumpkins, courgettes, broccoli, red cabbages.

Up at 5.45 (lie-in).   Dog walked, papers fetched, nipped to lotty as couldn't remember if I'd watered brassicas on plot 13.  Into office for 8.15 so not too bad.  Back home 6.15.  Dog walk then down to lotty with the missus.   Dug the other row of spuds out - a lot of em gone rotten but ground a foot down is very wet - which is says a lot about our Summer I can't help thinking. Brought back a ton of stuff - spuds, courgettes, runner beans, spud, goose gogs and raspberries.

Up early.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Did a bit down the lotty. Golf at 12;20 - lost despite having something like 9 or 10 pars - blooming high handicappers.   Never mind.

Up early.  Dog walked.  Down lotty - getting slabs up to number 7 for a bit of a patio thang.  Got nine 2x2' slabs up to the plot - found they go quite easy if you use the barrow and take em one at a time.   

There is a slab under the watering cans so will have two rows of three 2x2' slabs

Going to put some slabs in front of shed as well 

Over to mum and dad's for tea.  Very nice.  Bed about 10:30 very tired.

Same as usual.  Home for a bit after 6pm.  Watched Mission Impossible : Rogue Nation - very enjoyable.  Wrapped up a load of parcels for Lucy's upcoming birthday bless her.

Up at 5:30 a bit later than normal (idiot that I am).   Dog walked, papers fetched still got into office before 8am so that was okay.  Lucy got training with Ashbourne Ladies on her birthday, no less - taken by Sue Smith (Doncaster Belles and England International Winger) on the Rec so took pooch up and we watched that for a bit.  All good stuff.

The usual up at the crack.  Dog walked.  Bit at the lotty.  Golf at 12:45 – cancelled due to crap weather.  Went to Hathersage for a bass drum case in the evening.  All good stuff.

We got pad for lunch so the usual preparation etc.   Did an hour or two down the lotty and back home for 1pm’ish.   Didn’t get a lot else done – watched the Open highlights on the BBC which were very good as usual.

Have been  up to my neck of late with stuff.  So in the interim what has happened.  Getting back into drums again at my (at your age).  Played golf on Saturday – very mixed bag – hit a cracking drive on first, 8 iron to green, two put par and then it was hard going another 5 pars and a lot of rubbish in between!    Never  mind.   Getting the greenhouse in order, getting the lotty in order. Keeping on top of lawns, walking the dog – you know the drill. Sold some stuff on the old eBay.

Up early.  Drizzly, dog walked, papers fetched into the office.  Quandry as to what to do – been asked to join a band I auditioned for in which the personnel has now changed.  Back home for 6pm.  Fetched missus an anniversary present she directed me to.  Got some bedding plants.   Got back – sorted the greenhouse out a bit more, got the bedding plants in.   Watched England try to break down Slovackia 8-1-1 formation for 90 minutes.  At least Jo Hart didn’t screw up is one of the positives, that we’re unbeaten so far is also a positive in my view.

Dog walked, papers fetched, greenhouse watered.  Into the office for 7.50am.  After work had tea, went to Costco to get some photoprints of Lucy artwork so didn’t get back home til gone half eight.   Watched Game of Thrones with Lucy – excellent result!!  Bed late after a scoop or two.

Up early Dog walk.  Bit on the lotty.  Dog scared of shotguns going off.  Got a couple of sunflowers in and what have you.    Golf in afternoon only did 9 holes which was a bit silly.   Mum and dad's doo later.

Up early. Bad head! Cross for lunch.   Lucy training with Ashbourne Ladies in the afternoon at Derby County's training ground!  Ace fun. Didn't do much at night. Funny wet day saves watering the lotty though!!
