Wednesday 3rd February 2016
Up at 5:30.  Dog walked,  Snowing so not much fun. Into office for 7.45.   All good stuff.  Group on the way home another 3.5lbs gone.  Next week 2.5 further lbs would mean a stone gone in a month however, am going to Wales this weekend and have a bottle of Grants with my name on it (as well as Grant's obviously - what to do?  Don;t know.  We'll see.  Six nations on telly this weekend as well.

Thursday 4th February 2016
Up at 5.30.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Into the office for 7.55am - you cannot rely on the traffic.  Never mind, plenty done and new work accumulated such is life.   Back home for 6.15 steady stuff,  Dog walk, tea, Aldi trip

Friday 5th February 2016
Up at 5;30.  Mini walk round the block with the wee dog.  Then back at 6am to wake Lucy up, then up town to get papers with said dog.  Back home shave, shower and then off to work.  Into the office for 7.45am    Some good stuff today intellectual property theft on two fronts.  eBay work.  Ticking over nicely.  Got to Wales!

Friday night – fished Church Bay Beach, an hour up and an hour down – 1 whiting between me and Darren and I didn’t blank! Big sea when we got down to the beach, all calmed down as the tide turned. Weather report:  dry!  (High Tide 20:20 4.9m)

Saturday 6th February 2016
Saturday morning up early, quick dog walk then  down on the beach with Darren, el blanko - back up for brekkie by 9:30

Saturday night – fished Cemlyn Beach almost out the back of the car – cracking venue - must fish again sometime.  Caught about eight whiting between me and Darren, no  blanks for either of us. Weather report: dry but damn windy! (Holyhead High tide 21:05 5.2m)

One of many whiting - good spot to fish though

Special thank you to Telboy of Telboy’s Tackle for the bait and tackle bits and for doing two rod repairs while we waited!  Check his shop in Amlwch out – a little Aladdins cave and he will always recommend where to fish and what to use for bait.

Sunday 7th February 2016
Quick walk with pooch, nipped down to fish the beach with Darren - a bit weedy and no bites.  So off to fish Amlwch Breakwater – more whiting and Darren also got a solitary dab, but mainly Whiting!  There’s a shag (it's a kind of bird, your filthy mind) that hangs about the breakwater and tries to take your fish off your hook for you as you bring it in – so be warned.  I gave it a ruck of leftover sprats I had and that kept it quiet for a bit. Weather report: Dry, sunny and still windy! high tide 09:25 5.5m)

Friendly Shag with sprat!

Amlwch Port with Father Ted Crilly's house in the distance

Sunday Night/Monday Morning – weather report Storm Imogen – fishing postponed!

The reason  I mentioned the weather is that the BBC forecast said it would rain pretty much constantly all weekend – Telboy says the island has its own weather system and I reckon he knows better than the BBC on this -  I wonder if the BBC gives you just a general North Wales forecast when you type in Holyhead as all our sessions were dry but blustery?

So not a bad weekend for fishing if you like whiting.  Will try a few more venues next time I’m on the Island.

Sunday 27th February 2011 to Saturday 5th March 2011

Saturday 5th March 2011
Back giving me a right load of jip in the night. Was really uncomfortable on train coming back on Wednesday and it's got no better in the meantime so didn't sleep well at all. Anyway, got up fairly early, did a good run up town and back at 8:59/mile - seems like the watch hasn't downloaded the details for some reason?

Nine holes of golf at lunchtime in the miserable drizzle - steady 4 over 39 off winter tees. Details

Friday 4th March 2011
More trouble at the mill today but not to worry. Walked up town and back steadythis morning. Lost 3.5lbs at Janet's group last night - a steady start considering last weekend. Details

Thursday 3rd March 2011
Couldn't get up til 6:00am, cream crackered - it's caught up with me. Quick run up town and back 2.5 miles at about 9:40 I think (Details). Off to work early.

Wednesday 2nd March 2011
Up early, bread on, run up town and back, off to Derby Station, new NCP car park only £5 a day - very good. Down to London on to TFM&A conference interesting stuff about social media, and messages. Quite interesting got some good ideas from it. Back to St Pancras and then back to Derby. Trains now have wireless in firstclass so you can get your emails done - connection is iffy in the extreme but am sure it will get better. Details of run.
Tuesday 1st March 2011
Got up early, set breadmaker off on dough mode, went back to bed for 1hr 20mins, got up and made rolls and then steady run up town and back. 9.3omin/mi was steady enough. Details

Monday 28th February 2011
The missus' birthday and Slimming World's CEO Tony Whittaker 70th. Happy birthday to both. Got up early to do bosskats cards and presents, then a quick run up town and back. 9:40/miles was sort of acceptable all things considered. Am at that age where a long drive seems to affect my legs the following day which is not good really. Will post details when watch finally decides to upload them.

Sunday 27th February 2011
Second day of a two day stopover in Anglesey. Bit of fishing, lot of drinking, not much catching, weather nice if windy. Missed DCFC beating Sheffield which would have been nice and England turning over France which would have been better - can't have everything. Couple of Pics below.
Stopped at Ty Newydd, Church Bay Always like it there - walking distance to fishing beach, nice people - can't ask for more.

Sunday - Rock Fishing

On Sunday we walked / climbed to a rock mark that you can get to by taking the coastal path from the Car Park at Church Bay. It's under a mile to the mark and I reckon if you hit it at the right time you could be into some fish. Be warned though you will lose tackle. We were fishing the tide going out a couple of hours after high tide and managed a mackeral and a doggie and that was it. Andrew reckoned he had a bite that snagged towards the end but we spent about two hours and then headed back to camp to take stuff down and head for home.

Anglesey Adventure part deux

Been to Anglesey again, enjoyed it so much a fortnight ago we thought we had to do it again, and what a weekend. Not had any alcohol but that's not detracted (much) from a great weekend with absolutely fantastic weather. Perhaps best of all, when we were out fishing on Saturday night I managed to hook a bass, took me 40 years to get one and while it was only a little schoolie it was still a bass and that's good enough for me! Only thing to spoil it all was the traffic delays coming back but if that's all I can find to complain about it must have been a bloomin good weekend. Once again we're endebted to my brother Andrew and his missus Shona who set the most enormous of tents up for us - am now seriously considering purchasing a big un for next year.

Anglesey Adventure

Been to Anglesey for a long weekend. Weather a bit hit and miss but good fun all the same. Our hosts were my brother Andrew and his missus Shona who were bloomin great - set up a whopping big tent for us and looked after us camping virgins the whole time. We went fishing three times including a session til 1am on Saturday night and caught precisely .... nothing! Never mind, the sea was like a mill pond which isn't ideal conditions for it but it was nice for swimming in (although a bit parky). I've got the kids wetsuits now so it's not so bad for them but by crikey for me and our Andrew it was mighty cold.

We stopped at a camp site near Church Bay which is a lovely spot (if a little light on fish). The site was in easy reach of the beach and Vic, the chap that runs it lent us his bait shovel so we could dig lugworm for bait, which was damned decent of him. I learnt the technique of digging lug as well this weekend - if I can draw a diagram and scan it in I will - it's quait clever so t'is (in a posh accent).

I've made this commitment at group that I'm going to be off the alcohol for all of September. Well after the session on Saturday I decided to stop the booze on Sunday. So we're on number two of the new D.A.F.T. (days alcohol free). Just another 29 to go!

Sunday morning I went a walk along the cliff top path and took this picture back towards the camp site. The big white house on the right of the beach is available for sale for just £795K if anyone is interested and just to the left of that is the campsite.

Walk to Porth Ysgo

On Friday walked to Porth Ysgo and back. All told it was a bit over five miles. The GPS was acting all dodgy again so can't be sure. Anyway was a nice walk and it looks like it'd be a good spot for some fishing. I didn't go down to the beach as was short of time but I'd say it's a fair climb down. There are steps but it's probably not worth taking small children even though it's a pretty place.

Back in the modern world!

Been on Hols to Wales

No posts for a while have been to sunny Wales (if only). Had a grand time, knee is still knackered so done zero running, zero cycling. Done a good bit of walking. Will post some routes and stuff when get all the video and pics from hols sorted out. Which will probably take months.
