Playing the 465yd par 5 11th at the Manor, Kingstone. Decentish drive, nice 5 wood about 10 yards short of the green, chipped in. Eagle easy as that. A disastrous front nine meant it didn't make much ordds but the back nine was solid.

Golf Weekend at Windmill Village Hotel, Golf and Leisure Club,
Coventry Sat 11th & Sun 12th June.

Saturday round was horrendous. I don't think me and Andy B (blue top) above have ever beaten Johnno (25 handicap but hits it miles, had four birdies over this weekend) and Bill (red top) who plays four or more times a week (Jammy so and so) which makes him very consistent off his 14 handicap. Anyway down the 295yard 18th at Windmill I hit a decent drive in the fairway, hit a pitching wedge over the bunker to just off the green top side, although couldn't see it from where I was it would roll onto the green and just three foot past the pin. I missed the birdie putt but made par, a five for Bill and Johnno meant Andy and myself won for the first time ever. It had to happen!

Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17580414198798994519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801736127638008262.post-8887356069441151512021-09-17T08:06:00.001+00:002021-09-17T08:19:29.053+00:00Thursday 16th September 2021 Golf at NefynPlayed Nefyn, tee off 10.20, set off from C Bay at 07.50, breakfast in Carnarfon on the way. What a day what a course, what rubbish I played (often due to the hundred of people walking along the paths through the course - I bet we spent twenty minute plus waiting for dimwits with no awareness of what a golf ball travelling at 80 miles an hour can do.

My brother bought me the Mortimer & Whitehouse Gone Fishing book which is absolutely great - both Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse came together after serious heart operations so Bob Mortimer talks about heart healthy food and one of the things mentioned are pears being good so have had one of them today - it was alright.

Did my usual just under 2 mile evening walk which is designed to be as safe as possible to keep the other half happy. Watched 'Spiderman far from Home' with Lucy after tea and what have you - a slight improvement on Cats last week but still not a knock your socks off ace film.

Wednesday 13th January 2021

Up twice in the night with the dawg. Marvellous. Up early. Usual (now) 2.5 mile walk to get papers. Making it a habit! After a busy day in the office (home-office) I did the two mile evening loop listening to the Drummers Only podcast - vety enjoyable. We watched the last episode of the Pembrokeshire Murders thing on ITV - absolutely excellent I thought. Fast asleep before 10.30 according to my watch.

Thursday 14th January 2021

Up at 6:02 according to the watch of truth - no dawg interruptions - great. Walked the pooch briefly as it was chucking it down. Fed her and got things ready then did the 2.5mi walk to Mayfield Paper shop and back at 7am. Very, very wet. But good to get the walk done.

Friday 15th January 2021

Usual 5 miles worth of weekday walks followed by Whisky in moderation and Zoom call with Paula and Darren with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire - ace or what.

Saturday 16th January 2021

Chucking it down with rain so went to get papers by car. Piccy B breakfast. Big walk (pics below) but phone ran out of juice so didn't get all the mileage or steps I deserved hey-ho. Phoned me mum and dad up then chippy tea. Watched Sonic the Hedgehog movie with Lucy - crikey blimey she makes me watch some tat!

Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17580414198798994519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801736127638008262.post-45008827732951249102020-06-09T07:13:00.001+00:002020-06-09T07:37:52.798+00:00May 2020May 2020
What happened in May in a single post - Allotment blooming. Played golf for the first time in best part of a year and played pretty solidly. Missus went to hospital for a day after not feeling well. Was made Chairman of Parish Council (only agreed to do it for a year because noone else would). Went fishing in Liverpool. Daily walking of varying lengths with the dawgs.
Did a bit down the lotty. Went with Phil to get 5 bags of quality manure from one of the farms he works on. Got that down the lotty. Got bean trenches dug and muck in. Got bean row up - am thinking I will wait for a couple of weeks longer before putting beans out. First potato leaf spotted too which was good.
Up early - half a day. Busy morning starting at 7.30, finishing 1.15 (although picking up emails all day long). Took Lily for a mile up the golf course. Weird to see golf course with no flags on the greens. Very sad.
Three potato leaves now appearing on the potato row - was worrying they'd not appear as we've done something a bit different with the spuds this year although we have done Maris Peer and Maris Piper varieties in the past we've never used supermarket spuds that have sprouted - got to give it a go ain't ya!
Decided last week that I'd use one of the slightly narrower rows for the runner beans (which are beginning to pop their heads up in the greenhouse). So today's job was to get the posts up - am still waiting for some muck from Phil so the bed is by no means complete but it's weeded and today has got its posts up. Also strimmed inside and out and then mowed all round as well. Got another half row of radishes and beetroot planted as well. All good stuff.
Easter Monday - day off working from home. Went to Lotty with a plan to sort out the big raised bed thing next to the shed. Things went a bit awry from the start when the key broke in the padlock. Fortunately I had a trowel, a bucket and a bag to put weeds in so I was clear the big bed, I fixed up some of the holes in it. Weeded it. Then I used the trowel to shift loads of soil that some rodent had dug up under the shed. All good stuff!!
Thursday 16th April 2020
Busy day in the home office just like t'others. After work me and Lucy walked the dogs, did the pub quiz then I went to the lotty on the bike - it was okay - just like riding a bike really. Finished off digging the bed I started on last night and have agreed it's going to be a bean row this year at least.

Friday 17th April 2020
Half a day at home work. Lotty in afternoon - went in car with the small dog. Did the long bed at the top of the plot - took a good while but it got done and that's the main thing. All the beds have now been weeded. There's still plenty of tidying up to do but for now it's a case of keeping on top of any weeds that poke their heads up.
Hmm. Woke up early as usual - not as much rain overnight as I'd expected but by mid morning rain had properly settled in. Read papers, drank coffee, had brunch going to get working in the Greenhouse I reckon. Did a load of potting up. Took over Phil's window sill which missus Siddall kindly cleared for me and now there's 40 tomato plants residing in the two windows upstairs. Ace.

Seem to be working longer days (just at home) and less drums or opportunity for drums.

What's happened since last time was here?

Loads. Christmas was sort of cancelled as mum and dad couldn't travel. Saw some good bands - Buck and Evans, Stillmarillion, Last in Line. Saw some good and some bad DCFC performances but now everything stopped. So have watched all of Breaking Bad, El Camino and have started on Just Call Saul.

Have got loads of stuff going on garden wise but am a little behind on the lotty. Hey ho same old, same old.

Saturday 4th April 2020

Dogs walked. Lots of potting up. Also got me runner beans in old MacDonalds drink cups - not single use anymore! Also planted cucumbers, courgettes, cauliflowers, sunflowers and much, much more as the saying goes. Put up a mini fence along side the front lawn. All good. Took Big Lad for a three mile walk which was nice.

Sunday 5th April 2020
More potting up. BBQ at dinner - bit of a fiasco - takes 45 minutes for briquettes to be ready - remember for next time!! Went and did a bit at the lotty. Had four things on my list - decide where runner beans going, get a bed weeded and ready, mow all round, got a mini row of beetroot and radishes planted, brought pea guttering back home - all done in a couple of hours so all good.
Bad night for little pooch with ruddy fireworks going off left right and centre - she survived though. Watched more succession - bloody grand!
Sunday 10th November 2019
Up early dog walked. Took the parasol down. Did a bit of epoxy fixing on me boots and one of Phil's all good. Setup my crafting box for making rigs and did lucky 7 traces so I can swap out hook snoods as and when . Walked our pooch and then off to remembrance Sunday.
Always a sombre ceremony that puts things into perspective. After the ceremony we had a quick bit to eat and then off to Nottingham - Lucy has managed to lose a coat (well we suspect someone has pinched it while she was in the library) so Janette has got her a new one. We didn't stop too long - boss went to Tesco Express with her and got some bits and bobs then we went back home and took both dogs for a bit of a walk (not too far).

Monday 11th November 2019
Up early - dog walked, papers fetched. Into work early as there is a big WW announcement today and I wanted to be ahead of the game if I could be. Got home walked dogs in the rain all good stuff. Watched Watchmen - it's no less bonkers than last week. Went to bed a bit before 10pm all good.

Tuesday 12th November 2019
Woke up mega early as usual but didn't get out of bed until 5pm as I knew I was going to be late back from work then an alcohol-free pub quiz later. Such is life. Late getting away from work as had a rehearsal to do with the works banned. All good - only doing one track this year to keep it simple.
Wednesday 13th November 2019
Up at 5.25 - am just about getting the time right so I can get me papers from WH Smiths at 6.10/6.15 most mornings. All good stuff. Into work in plenty of time and car juiced up ready for taking Lucy to a concert tomorrow night. Dad's taxi gone ruddy mad.

Thursday 14th November 2019
Work then took Lucy to Manchester to see a band called Half Alive at some funny club in Manchester. Back at 1am absolutely knackered - lucky with the weather asd it was threatening to snow!
Friday 15th November 2019
Up early. Dog walked. Into work proper tired. Coming home I got a phone call - band dropped out at last minute can we cover. So rang everyone got the okay - gig on.
Up early. Excited ahead of the England v South Africa Rugby World Cup final only to be disappointed at being out muscled and out-played in every department. Was the Derby match going to be exactly the same? No we did Middlesbrough 2-0 with both goals coming from Tom Lawrence one of the two embarassments crashing while drink driving. Neat thing was that I found a little short cut to my £5 car park which was neat. One day they will sort out the inner ring road - at the minute no-one is ever in the right lane as they come over the fly-over, myself included! Listed some bits and bobs on eBay
Up early. Dog walked. Then had to wait for Phil to get up to take him to pick his van up and then over to me mum and dad's. Back home, walked the dogs, mowed the lawns for what I hope will be the last time (you never know). Bought some bits and bobs on eBay a couple of Z rod things for mounting splashes on and a LCD unit for an Alesis D4 to replace the one that has lost it's backlighting.
Up early. Dog walked. Back Home. Dog walked. Watched the new episode of Watchmen - proper weird. Watched some more Succession - it's so mad it's addictive. Went for a 2.5 mile walk on me own - good stuff.

Tuesday 5th November 2019
Walks in morning but none at night with it being bonfire night. Watched more Succession am going to be sad when I get to the end it's bonkers but great. Listened to Stewart Lee on "A Good Read" - going to have to go and see him live I reckon! Walked 2.5 miles again on me own.

Wednesday 6th November 2019
The usual with work except for chauffeuring the boss about a bit. All good. Got home took small pooch a walk, took big lad a walk but didn't do my walk on me own. On way back home after dropping boss off in Nottingham I listened to an interview with Bob Igors (the bloke credited with turning around Disney) fascinating and made me thinkl of Succession - takeovers and what have you , you see?).

Instead I fitted a new display in the D4 as the back lighting had gone in the old one - only cost me £17 so chuffed to bits with that. Am going to use it to trigger bass drum and snare samples live is my thinking (might also put a cowbell on there somewhere).
Am stopping late at work so when I got up at 4.45 and it was tipping it down I went back to bed for half an hour! Still raining like hell when I took the hound out but hey ho. Into work for 7.30. All good. Did a couple of songs with the Works Band and then got home for about 6.30. Took big lad a walk. Did a bit more work on making sure the D4's display is secure with the broken clip all good stuff. Watched another episode of Succession - bloody greaty then watched a bit of Taylor Hawkins on BBC Iplayer - interesting - seems a nice bloke.
Other stuff - tried out with a band from Derby but it wasn't working for me so when the opportunity to join a band with former members of Breaking Poynt came up I sort of jumped at it after a bit of thinking anyway.
Up at 5:40. Dog walked, papers fetched into office for 7.25 all on rails as always. Back home for 5pm then straight up to Wyaston for a Neighbourhood watch thing where I was tasked with doing coffees and teas - I bet some folks had some dodgy cups of tea. Anyway, all got done, back home for just gone 10pm, got some stuff ready for the morning and straight off to bed.
Up early on account of going to bed early. Need to catch up on sleep really. Into the office early again which is good, good, good. Really busy day. Left at 3.55 and got home much earlier than if I leave it to a bit after 4pm so need to keep doing that really. Got home - put roofbox on the motor - had tea - took the hounds on the one mile loop. Did a load of juggling stuff from the little shed ready for going camping at the weekend. Got back watched DCFC beat Huddersfield Town on their own patch - Tom Lawrence has a great game with two goals and he put a shift in too - lot of folks aren't keen on him but he did good yesterday. First game with new manager and I thought they looked very good - a really useful three points to start the campaign off!
Tuesday 6th August 2019
Up early'ish. Took the pup out to get papers and what have you. We have an event on at work so parking about a mile away - took the bike so I could get me ass ready for a 20 miler on Thursday - have done next to naff-all cycling this year so am hoping I can do a bit of short distance preparation in advance of Thursday! All good stuff.

What happened to rest of August!!

MSR has shut down so have to fetch papers in ruddy car. Not good.

Been to see DCFC three times I think and they have been rubbish every time. Two draws and a defeat.

Sold a drum kit, bought a drum kit.

Been on five day camping trip before we got just too sick of the damn wind.

As usual am so busy am not keeping this up to date.

Done lots of bits and bobs.

Have tidied up the coalhouse shed and now we have the small freezer in there, which had to be moved out of the utility room to make way for an enormous LG fridge/freezer. The old Liebherr one has now had to go as well but at present is sat at the front of the house.

Thursday, went over to me Dad's to sort his computer out - it probably needs replacing - it's still running on Windows XP!

Saturday fetched brekko from up town for me and the missus - went down reasonably well. Did a rehearsal in Church Greasley with Revamp which was very enjoyable three or four hours focusing on about three or four song. Perfectionists I reckon.

Sunday took a load more stuff to the recycling centre in the morning. Went to Lotty and brought back loads of broad beans, runner beans, french beans (all the beans then), courgettes, peas and raspberries.Paulhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17580414198798994519noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801736127638008262.post-32208148188276313362019-07-22T07:59:00.000+00:002019-07-28T15:35:38.946+00:00Monday 22nd July 2019 to Sunday 28th July 2019 Monday 22nd July 2019
Up at 5.15 - Phil was downstairs before me think he must be working down West Midlands sort of end to be up that early. Dog walked, papers fetched, into office for 7.30 after getting some petrol on the way. All good stuff!!
Up before 5am, shower, shave etc. Down to lotty to water with la pooch and then on into Ashbourne to get papers. Into the office for 7.15. All good stuff. Busy day ahead then going to see Jaws with Lucy at Derby Odeon Luxe - Ace!!

Got home, quit tea, tooks dogs out for a walk, then off to Derby for Jaws - what a film, never seen it on the big screen. Absolutely ace. Only downer was being robbed at £4.30 for a diet coke for Lucy but made up for it by stopping at McDs on the way home and got a black coffee for me and a McFlurry for Lucy for £2.48 so with my 2-for-1 tickets for Jaws it was a good night out all told!
Up early. Dog walked, papers fetched, lotty watered, picked some raspberries for me porridge at work too. Pumped tyres up on the car as one of those warning lights keeps coming on (wonder how they worked). Into office for 7.20am - everything firing along nicely. Got home from work. Tea then walked the big lad, then sold the Tama. Have I made a good decision to sell it? It feels like a no you were stupid but at the same time at least I have a bit of space back which has to be a good thing. It's gone to Leicester - a nice couple bought it for the chap's birthday (born on same day as Phil - what's the chances?).
Phil's birthday. He was gone at crack of dawn but Happy Birthday none the less wee lad! Went out for a meal with Darren and Paula at the Coach and Horses, Fenny Bentley in the evening - very nice!

Saturday 20th July 2019
Up early as always - fetched papers etc. Took Lucy up town. Did a bit in the greenhouse, put the roof bars back on the car. Went to an evening do for Phil's boss' son's wedding at night time. A good do but very late getting back so was very tired.
Sunday 21st July 2019
Up a bit later than usual - 6:30ish. To be expected I suppose. Took the hound out then did a bit of weeding (no one noticed!). Mowed the front and back at ours. Went to the Cross for a carvery lunch. It was alreet.

Went to Lotty for a couple of hours. Sorted me brassicas out which were a bit restricted so put some bigger netting over em and now they are okay. Borrowed Pads mower and mowed round which was needed. Missus Siddall did loads of fruit picking - lots of goose gogs and raspberries. We've not done very well for Strawberries this year so am going to ask my neighbour how he got on growing them in guttering - I think the advantage of this is that it keeps the slugs out.
Managed to avoid seeing the actual result of the Open and sat down to watch highlights at 8pm. What a disappointment - why can't someone teach Lee Westwood how to ruddy putt. Does my head in! So didn't bother watching to end as it was obvious that Lowry was going to win it. Horrific conditions and course not set up for birdies on final day in my view made it less of a spectacle than it might have been - on saying that he shot an awesome round on day three so a very worthy winner.
Up early, down the lotty, a tubfull of raspberries. Watered it all, desperately need to do something with me brassicas but have got a Cricket World Cup to watch. Clean BBQ and Firepit, put the BBQ away - all good! After New Zealand's innings I whizzed to the lotty on me bike to get some peas - I got back in time for the first over of the England Innings - might have missed one or two balls but that's all. Any road after finishing all square we beat the Kiwis on a countback of boundaries - mad!
