Bank Holiday Monday 29th August 2016
Up early, dog walked, papers fetched.  Went into the office and did a couple of hours.  Took missus out shopping then went to John Pye's and had a look.  Watched a load of "The Last Ship"s which is interesting enough gungho nonsense.

Tuesday 30th August 2016
Up early.  Dog walked. Papers fetched. Into the office before 8am - loads done.   Home for 6.30pm.  Tea. Dog Walk.  Lotty to water.   Fixed bulb on landing.

Wednesday 31st August 2016
Up early.  Dog walk.  Papers fetched. Into office a bit late.  Off to the tooth mangler later today.  New Tooth manglers sweeps clean - got to go back in October for 4 ruddy fillings.  Bah.  Went with boss to watch Lucy at football practice - all good fun.

Cripes how can it be September??  Anyway, up early dog walked, office early.  Full shift in the office - got loads done.  Back home about 6:30.  Getting ready to go to that Wales - got the Callisto down from the Attic as the boss is coming with us on a camping trip!!


Friday 2nd September 2016
Up early, dog walked, papers fetched.  Unbelievable but have had to put roof box on for a 3 day camping trip!!!   Never mind.  Got there about 2:30pm, tent set up in no time, carpet down, chairs sorted all nice and comfy.  Suns out too (we know crap weather is on the way but such is life).  

Bit of fishing with our Andrew who arrives about 7:30.  Nothing biting but the jammy beggar pulls in a smoothhound!

Saturday 3rd September 2016

We expected crap weather and sure enough it did arrive.   Full on rain but not inches of it like XCWeather predicted - but more wind than BBC/Metoffice predicted!  Had a shower before weather came in.

Took advantage of the inclement weather when it came to have an extended kip in the morning after taking pooch for a quick walk.   After Breakfast our Andrew went home.   Did a bit of a computer fix for Paul and Jill in the afternoon then went and dug some bait for fishing.  Didn't fish long as wind had picked up and we wanted to see if we could settle the dog down.  I'm not sure if I got the ideal spot I think just right of the car would have been best but forecast had been SSW so I thought the cottage would shelter us a little (it didn't).

Sunday 4th September 2016
Knackered after a night of dog panic and wind.   Woke up about 7:30 - had another shower.  Breakfast about 8:30.  Got tent down in the dry weather - all good stuff.  Walk down on the beach with the bride then on the way home.  Stopping at Llandudno on the way back to keep the bride happy!    Back home about 5pm so not too bad on the way back - took a detour through Mold to avoid some traffic which added a little bit to the trip but not too much.

Got up at 5:30.  Dog walked, papers fetched into the office for 7.45am  Am depping for another drummer in September so have been getting source material off an external hard drive to learn together.   Need to get calloused back on hands as well so going to start practicing at lunch times!  After work am going to take pooch to lotty to get the broad beans I put in a tub for seeds and also to measure in Shed 7 for a bigger shelf to put spuds on etc.etc.  After work went to lotty to get seed potatoes and broad beans and stuff that I'd left in a pot (in the rain like an idiot).  Had a quick look at the patch of land that the council is supposedly doing an ecological survey on - seems very partial?

When got back I 25% filled up two potato bags that I'd got from poundstretcher that had been reduced to £1.99 for three and got three seed potatoes in each.   The idea being to have some fresh spuds ready for Christmas.

Wednesday 24th August 2016
Overlaid!  6.25 when got out of bed - what's going on!  Still got papers and got into work just a little bit later than usual and still 50 minutes earlier than due to start.    Went to cancel Now TV Entertainment and got a £3.49 per month deal - am seriously thinking about switching SKY right off?
Got home after work, quick tea then off to see Lucy playing football.  Great turnout both of players and spectators for a mid-week friendly.  Ashbourne got a bit trounced by Mackworth 4-0 but they're coming on and that's the main thing.

Thursday 25th August 2016
Up at the right time.  Dog walked,papers fetched, wet day.  Lucy got her GCSE results - 6Bs 3As 1A* (A* in I.T. - who knew??).  What a little brainbox - don't know where she gets it from, certainly not me.

Got home, didna't do much due to rain stopping play - took pooch out a couple of times and watched a load of American hocum called "The Last Ship" - proper gung ho apocalyptic tat!   Still watched four episodes back to back so maybe it's better than I thought.   Also got another iron boxed up ready for despatch. Bed a bit late and fee wee nips before it.   Really need to be getting my act together.

Friday 26th August 2016
Up at 5.30, papers fetched, dog walked, into the office for 8am.  All good stuff.   Nipped out to Wilko at lunchtime on a bit of a tip-off and got a metric tonne of seeds for next year (slight exagerration but you know what I mean - a shed-load of em).   All Wilko's own seeds reduced to 50p even the £3 multi-packs with ten different kinds of seeds in them.  I reckon I've got everything I need for next year apart from onion sets and seed potatoes.  All good stuff.

First day of bank holiday - wet as used expect.  Went up to play golf but it didn't happen such is life!  Lucy had a sleepover at ours with Grace and Becca.

What did I do?  Not blooming much.  Made the girls breakfast because Janette was off Car Booting. Then took all three of em to footie on the rec - it was supposed to rain but it was red hot instead. They lost 5-2 but played so much better.   All looking good.

Up at 5am.  Dog walked, papers fetched.  Took stuff over to Darley Dale for me dad’s birthday, then Tesco for pretend Welsh goodies, then into the office before 8am - awesome performance overall if I do say so myself. Finished a bit after 5.10pm and off to Heage to pick up a golf bag! Got golf bag after negotiating various diversions for water board works. Got home just before 6.30pm. Tea. Dog walked then adjusting the irrigation station - it kicks off at 8:05pm and 8:05am (I think - have not witnessed and recorded the am one yet but I know the evening one is definitely 8:05!!). After speaking to Charli at work it became apparent that my T sections were superflous you just put droppers in line so am not sure what the point of the T sections are but it seems to work a bit better the new way - still no water getting to the final tray so have replaced that bit of pipe as I reckon there is a blockage in there. Did some pottering about in the garden. Got the charity shop clubs listed on eBay. Watched a bit of telly - nothing on.

Up at 5am again. Took pooch to lotty and watered plots. Moles are giving plot 13 a bit of jip it would seem:

Then off to get papers. Into the office for 7.45. Hoping to leave a bit early so I can give district council a bit of jip in the local plan consultation at Ashbourne. Busy day at t'office. Didn't get away early but went to the Local Plan Public Consultation Meeting at the Elim Church at 7pm and put my tuppence worth in. Good fun. Got home in time to see the automatic irrigation system kick in 8:05pm sharp! It's now pretty much sorted - need to observe it once more and then I'll hopefully be more or less confident it's there!! Bed early'ish.

Up at 5am again. Watered stuff outside at home then off to the lotty as it started to get light - watered then got some courgettes, runner beans and a lettuce to bring back. Then up town with el poocho to get papers. Back home ready for work then into the office for 7.45am. A ton of stuff to get done today as well. More work on the watering system.

Up at 5.  Watered lotty.  Dog walk.  Full on day at work.  Back home for a bit after 6pm.  Tea.  Dog walk. Lotty with missus.  Did a bit.  Back home for 9pm.  Bed 11pm.  V Tired.

Friday 19th August 2016
Lie-in. Didn't do Lotty as done last night - so just dog walk, papers fetched and then off to work.  Rain has kicked in so no watering needed.

Saturday 20th August 2016
Up early - drizzly tat, fetched papers with dog.  Supposed to do a photo-shoot but it got rained off.  Not to worry.   Did a load of jobs in the greenhouse while Missus and Lucy were at Ashbourne Show.  Another walk with poocher before playing golf with Darren and Jordan - I started off with a birdie (no less) and then it was downhill thereafter - think I only parred a couple of holes but was there or thereabouts on most holes.  Watched Snatch on Now TV movies which was okay.

Sunday 21st August 2016
Up early.  Dog walked.  Took pooch down to lotty to do a bit but she wasn't happy as someone shooting shotguns nearby so didn't stop too long.  Got pea row taken down and tidied away.  Chopped broad beans down to ground.   Took pooch home and then went back to lotty.  Got rid of  brassicas that had bolted and took a load of rubbish besides down to the tip.  Tidied shed 13 up as well so you can at least get in it now.  Am thinking about putting a bigger shelf into shed 7 to put spuds on as Shed 7 is pretty much totally dark when doors shut?  Need to do a bit of measuring - might do that tomorrow.    

Got a decent haul of spuds, runner beans and raspberries - forgot to get courgettes which was a bit daft.

Am going to write to Aldi regarding the two metre squared cloches as both of them had poles that broke.  While taking pictures of them the dog came out for a roll on the lawn.

 Watched Solaris on Now TV movies which was rather wierd and kind of like the arty movie that is being filmed in the Mr Bean goes on Holiday film bizarre as that might sound!

Up super early.  Dog walked and papers fetched by 6am.  Into office for 7.20 hoping to get out a bit early to do some jobs at the lotty.

Last minute panicing.  Got Brussel Sprouts into the ground at the lotty hopefully some of the ‘orrible things will be done by Xmas!!  Need to get some spuds started off for Xmas too.   Have got an automatic watering system in the greenhouse that will do the trays on the floow but it’s going to need some perfecting.

Off to that Wales.  Set off about 9am got there a bit after 1:30, few stops along the way.  Got in and settled.   Should have gone fishing but was mighty tired so went to bed instead.

Mum and Dad arrive – not best pleased with the Sat Nav so tweaked it for the return journey!!  Little bit of a fish on the café beach with the wee dog again.

Brother arrives – not best pleased with all the folks on the field!  Went golfing with me dad to Bull Bay – course drove me insane.

Bit of a fish at night – caught nowt as a bit too much weed about and it was low tide.

Tuesday 9th August 2016

Up early.  Took Missus, Lucy and Grace to Anglesey Show – traffic great, dropped em off then came back to take the pooch out.  Fetched em back at 3pm all good stuff.   Went fishing with our Andrew got a bass which put up no fight at all, Andrew got a dogfish and a lil plaice.  

All good stuff.  Had to endure 9 hours of Gymnastics after - crikey it does just go on.  Gb got a bronze in the end so not all bad.

Our Andrew’s birthday – give him a fishing rod (bet he’s sick of em by now).   In the evening we went out to the Black Lion at Llanfaethlu – very nice food – really enjoyed it and they let us take the dog in too.

Dog walked, paper fetched – just like being at home eh!  Played at Anglesey Golf Club at Rhosneigr with Paul from the Campsite - it was good fun but a bit windy.  

Friday 12th August 2016

Long day.  Up early stripping down fishing kit then head back to home.  Stopped off at Llandudno on way home - up on the Great Orme the wind was unbelievable - people leaning into it at 45 degrees unbelievable!  Never mind, got home about 7pm after getting mega cramp in Cheadle on the way. right tired but got roof box off car and put away and all rest of it unloaded.

Golf cancelled but no big deal.  Took pooch a walk.  Did a shift at the lotty.  Phil has flooded my shed so am trying to dry that out and have also had all the hardware out of a wet bag and WD40’s and oiled it all.  Some quality hardware I got with that cheap kit at Xmas.  Jolly pleased.

Took poocher a walk first thing then more lotty - mowed and got a ton of rubbish down to the tip.   Then Cross at Cauldon Lowe for lunch which was very nice.  Then back home before going to Uttoxeter to see if could find a golf bag worth having at charity shop unfortunately there wasn’t so got one off a bloke in Heanor using the old eBay.  Watched Olympics golf and then whizzed down lotty to do a bit of watering.  Right tired.


What fishing stuff did I learn on this hols??
1). only need that little rod with different tips and the little multiplier although you should never put all your eggs in one basket.
2). need to work on presenting bait better.
